As consumers continue to spend more time online, there is an increase in hours spent on mobile devices.
According to a new report released in May from digital analyst Mary Meeker, people spent just under six hours a day in 2017 online with about half of that usage coming from mobile devices.
There was more good news for the mobile market as users continued to spend more time watching videos on the go. Last year, there was an average viewing time of almost 30 minutes on mobile devices. That number is expected to rise in 2018.
The social media market continued as a hot spot for consumers to purchase products. Meeker reported over half of social media users purchased products after discovering them on social platforms. Facebook remained the top platform in 2017 with over 75 percent of users finding products on that site.
Overall, E-commerce sales continue to grow, rising 16 percent in the U.S.
